Free cash flow
How much money a company could pay shareholders out of profits without expanding, but without running down its existing operations either.
Capital expenditure
An abbreviation of capital expenditure. The amount spent on buying fixed assets, other than as a part of an acquisition.
Cash flow per share
The cash flow generated per share: cash flow ÷number of shares in issue.
Price/cashflow
Share price ÷ (cash flow ÷ no of shares in issue).
Profit and loss account
A financial statement that shows the profit or loss a company has made over a period of time.
Balance sheet
The balance sheet shows what assets and liabilities the company has, and how the business is funded.
Statement of total recognised gains and losses
A statement of the gains and losses made by a company during a period including those not shown in the profit and loss account.
