Conglomerate discount

A conglomerate discount is the difference between what the businesses within a conglomerate are worth separately, and the actual value the market places on the conglomerate. The latter is usually lower, therefore a conglomerate discount can be said to exist.

The reasons for the existence of the conglomerate discount are essentially the problems covered in the entry on conglomerates.
