OEIC
Open Ended Investment Company: a type of collective investment fund that is incorporated but open ended.
ETF
An investment fund, units of which can be bought and sold on a stock exchange. Often used by tracker funds.
Unit Trust
An investment vehicles that allows investors to pool money. The fund grows or shrinks as investors add or withdraw money from it.
Investment trust
Companies whose sole business is to manage the investments it owns. A somewhat misleading term used for historical reasons.
REIT
A collective investment scheme that allows tax efficient investment in property.
Benchmark index
The index or other measure against which the performance of a fund or portfolio is measured.
Fund mandate
The parameters within which a fund should invest.
Tracker fund
A collective investment vehicle that is designed to replicate the performance of a particular index.
