Sell side analyst
An analyst (usually employed by a stockbroker) who writes detailed investment research that is circulated to clients.
Buy-side analyst
An analyst who works for an institutional investor such as a fund management company, usually producing research for internal use rather than publication.
Private client broking
Broking services offered to private individuals. These do to offer the access to research typically offered with the services offered to institutional clients.
Inter-dealer broker
Intermediaries who act for brokers and market makers) who wish to buy or sell substantial quantities without revealing their identities.
Soft commission
Commission given in a non-cash form.
