Sequential growth: related pages

Organic growth
Growth (including negative growth) that comes from a company’s existing businesses as opposed to acquisitions.
Year-on-year
A comparison made between the results for a period with the same period in the previous year.
Acquisitive growth
Growth that is the result of takeovers, as opposed to organic growth.
Continuing operations
A number (generally turnover and profits) which excludes the effects of disposals but not those of acquisitions.
Like-for-like
An abbreviation of like-for-like. LFL numbers strip out the effect of shop openings and closures on retailers' sales or profits.
Pro-forma
Accounts drawn up as though acquisitions and disposals that took place during a period, had taken place at the start of it.
Cyclical
Cyclical businesses are those that are sensitive to the economic cycle.
