Unpaid dividend

An unpaid dividend is one that has been declared by a company (the company has announced the amount of the dividend), but which has not been paid. An unpaid dividend is shown as a liability in the balance sheet.

Assuming the shares are not yet trading ex-dividend, then investors may meed to adjust their analysis of the company for this. The simplest adjustment is to deduct the value of the dividend from the share price.
